Terminology

Topline vs. Backline

This may seem simple but so many standards and people get these mixed up. Next time you read a standard consider how these terms are used.

TOPLINE - an outline seen in profile (from the side) of the dog beginning at the occiput and ending at the set on of the tail.

BACKLINE - contained within the topline, beginning at the withers and ending at the set on of the tail.
